The Best Gift to Give this Holiday Season

The best gift of communication you can offer anyone is the gift of your attention.

It's great year-round.Ā

šŸ”·It costs nothing and requires no shopping.

šŸ”·There’s no need for fancy wrapping.

Paying close attention requires deep listening skills—fully focusing on the speaker, listening not just to the words but also to tone, body language, and emotions.

You can’t genuinely understand someone else’s perspective if you miss a few words or sentences they are expressing to you.

Learn how to pay attention without distractions. This is priceless.Ā

Focus on others and block out distractions—no phones, pings, or alerts.😮

Don't try "faking someone out" by acting like you're engaged when you're mentally drifting.Ā

Forget the email that needs to be sent.Ā

Forget that the car needs gas.Ā

Forget about stopping at the store.

The truth is that people notice when you're "checked out." Don't kid yourself.

šŸŽÆThe better way is to be more self-aware.Ā

Exceptional communicators catch themselves qu...

Speaking These 2 Words May Be Killing Your Business

The two most dangerous words when communicating in business and life are:

I know.

You may indeed know what the other person is saying.

Or trying to express.

Still,Ā pay attention to how you sayĀ your "I know."

Is your tone one of arrogance or dismissal of someone else's idea?

This is about being self-aware.

And self-awareness is often a struggle in A/E/C.

You may be communicating to others subliminally that you are close-minded and closed-hearted.

A slight shift can help close a bid or form a new connection.

Want More Clients? Do More of This.

The most important four-letter word in business and life is CARE.

For me, CARE is an acronym.

  • YourĀ Communication is based on what you pay Attention to.
  • YourĀ Attention (focus) determines yourĀ Results.
  • Your Results can beĀ Excellent.

How do yourĀ prospects, clients, and fellow human beings know you care about them?

Are you focusing on the correct problems your prospects are experiencing? Do you know how toĀ improve your presentations and conversations?Ā

Notice your communication patterns and habits. It's all about self-awareness.

If you want better results, it's time to CARE in a new way.

You Have Ideas – but You Believe You Have 'No Idea Where to Start'

Entrepreneurs are rarely short on ideas.Ā

And then we tell ourselves: I have no idea where to start.  😢

Let's ban the phrase, I have no idea where to start.Ā

It’s a familiar and comfortable narrative that has youĀ brainwashedĀ into believing you're stuck.

I’m calling you out on this BS because your internal story is blocking your business growth.šŸ’°Ā

You insist you're clueless and instead focus on external messaging like ad copy, SEO, and email automation.

Here's the thing.Ā

šŸŽ‡Your internal messaging is more important than anything else.

Because marketing rarely works when your internal story keeps hammering that you have no idea what to do.

Our words create our worlds. šŸŒŽ

Ā And ourĀ communication is ā€œan inside jobā€Ā that no SEO guru can tweak.Ā

When you start with Step 1 and commit to cleaning up your internal story, you'll have:Ā

Ā šŸŽÆQualified leads and decision-makers joining your list and community.Ā

Ā šŸŽÆPeople who love engaging and sharing your content, so you have more visibility...

The #1 Issue that Keeps Slowing Your Business Growth

I want to get in front of people who can hire me; I want to grow my business!Ā

That’s what I’ve been hearing these past few weeks on social media and from my own client calls.Ā

Look, social media gives each of us access to the masses.

So, it’s not hard to get in front of people—even the right people who are your dream clients.Ā

Still, there’s a challenge that most entrepreneurs and coaches don’t recognize.

šŸŽ¤It’s this: What do youĀ SAYĀ when you get in front of your peeps? šŸŽ¤

If you’re like most of my clients, when we first start working together, they say the same thing.

šŸ‘€You’re not alone…

  • Maria thought her problem was only having a few small clients (and struggling to make money). Then she realized she needed the confidence to talk about herself in a big, bold way.
  • Chris thought he wasn’t closing enough sales. Then he realized he didn’t feel worthy enough to speak up.Ā
  • Heidi knew she was doing something wrong. She got crickets when trying to engage potential clients and repor

My coaching client, attorney and DEI advocate Diana Patton, beautifully used the ā€˜bridge and guide’ technique I teach for messaging and introductions.

She seized the opportunity to self-promote during a recent morning TV interview.

The original topic for Diana’s segment was health and wellness.

So, how was Diana able to blend and weave in her angle about the advocacy and diversity work she does?

Nobody’s Talking at the Airport—and That’s a Problem

I flew from Texas to New Jersey a few days ago.
Ā
I saw really long, beautiful lines at the airports.
Ā
Lines to check bags.
Ā
Lines to get through security.
Ā
Lines to buy food.
Ā
Certainly, a lovely sight as we emerge from the Pandemic.
Ā
Still, one thing really frightened me.
Ā
Even with the big crowds, the noise levels were incredibly low.
Ā
There wasn’t much chatter.
Ā
Or small talk.
Ā
Everyone was keeping to themselves.
Ā
Everyone was plugged into technology with earbuds that kept them closed off from the real-life experience of being out with other human beings.
Ā
And it’s not just at the airport.
Ā
It’s everywhere…the store, restaurants, the gym.
Ā
Our faces are in our phones.
Ā
Our brains are distracted and somewhere else.
Ā
Our earbuds turn us inward and keep us stuck in our own heads. In podcasts, in mus...
