The Golden 2-Step Process in Communication

I thought of you.

I picked up my phone and called you.

Whether you answered or I reached your voicemail, the first thing I said was:

I was thinking of you.😉

Human-to-human communication.

You have the power to make another person feel special and valued.

No texting.

No reason.

It’s just a simple two-step process based on our shared humanity and kindness.

➡️Step 1. Think of someone.

➡️Step 2. Pick up the phone.

Here’s the truth:

A small gesture like this can brighten someone’s day.

It might even make your day better. You could find yourself smiling.

If you end up talking in real time, it doesn’t need to take long.

Even a few minutes are enough, no matter how busy you are.⌚

Put some positive energy into the world.

Don't overthink.

Don't complicate it.

Take action.

You got this.🤗

PS: This works in business and at home.

When AEC Goes 'All In' on Communication, This Happens

"I've grown from it and want to keep going."

This is what a group coaching client, Phyllis, told me today.

They participated on different levels.

So they dug into the content and enjoyed the wisdom and techniques they hadn't heard before.👏

They appreciated my no-nonsense approach to building human connections.

Like so many in A/E/C, students wanted to:

  • Become more clear and confident in business development meetings.
  • Overcome limiting beliefs around public speaking and communication.
  • Learn high-level brain science so that selling is conversational—without awkward, canned slide decks.
  • Simplify complex data to engag

Tired of Low Productivity and Miscommunication? Do This.

Work with a sense of urgency.

High achievers do it all the time.

What about having a sense of urgency to improve communication skills?

Not technology tools. I'm talking about interpersonal relationships.

There's been a flurry of posts and infographics about communication in today's workplace.

The suggestions include:

  • Don't complain
  • Be assertive and empathetic
  • Be a team player

These recommendations are covered in cobwebs and dust.

🤪Hello, 2023.

Too many industries work with a sense of urgency around technology and equipment.

But problems arise when human communication is not a priority.

Most employees don't know the new brain science and psychology behind our communication.

Yes, there are legit concerns about people skills.

First, though, we must have high levels of self-awareness.

Internal communication and narratives have to shift. As you clear out limiting beliefs, interacting with others is much easier.

Deep listening (not active listening) is an e...
