Why I Stopped Making New Year's Resolutions –and You Should, Too

Listen closely.

You can practically hear the clock ticking.⏲

As New Year’s Eve approaches, the world is keenly aware of hours, minutes, and seconds.

Look, I love a party, but making resolutions irks me, and here's why.

Have you resolved to quit binge-watching Netflix and volunteer as a mentor in your community? Or finally launch your podcast? Or worse…join the gym? (gassssp!)

Let's get real.

You don’t need a split second on Dec. 31st when the ball drops in Times Square to get on track. You have the power right now to do better.

It's not a resolution; it's a decision.🧨

You can simply DECIDE—like I have done for many years—to stop waiting for the countdown, champagne, and party hats.πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ It's called stalling and giving away your power.

I used to put soooo much pressure on myself at the end of each year and for no reason.

There is something to be said for being a decisive and bold entrepreneur. It has ZILCH to do with New Year's Eve.πŸ“†

Consider this: I allow myself to up-level at any time.

It can be on February 20, June 9, September 14, or November 2.

Opening up my calendar (and mind) allows me to seriously grow and expand, both in my coaching business and in my personal life.

This is the beauty of the calendar and the spaciousness of time.

Why limit yourself to Dec. 31st???!!

You absolutely can make up your mind right now.

You have the power to change what you don't like. All you have to do is resolve to take the REQUIRED steps. This sparks momentum. πŸ˜‚

It’s about bold decision-making, not a split second on a clock that everyone is glued to on December 31st.

It’s about making a promise to yourself—a non-negotiable vow. It’s you resolving to step up, no matter what.

For me, the decisions usually come when I reach the breaking point of frustration or disgust. It’s what moves me into action.

Not just taking one step, but two steps and all the rest that follow.

πŸ˜‚ You decide.

πŸ˜‚ You make up your mind.

πŸ˜‚ You move forward.

Even when you’re scared.

Even when you’re stressed.

Even when you secretly feel like you’re not enough.

So, screw Times Square. πŸ‘€

Rip up the calendar page.πŸ‘

And thank the universe that you have the gift of time to decide to change things…anytime, anywhere.

πŸ“’Here's the bottom line: The most important second is not on New Year’s Eve. It’s right now.

Happy New Year!
